He had a Tiffany lamp, and antique dining table, and a laser disc video attached to a Sony Trinitron,
but foam cushions on the floor rather than sofas and chairs.

"This treasurable home video edition restores sequences missing from the film since its 1963 premiere. And in a new, specially produced supplement, Kramer and many Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, stars reminisce about how they worked to make this enduring favorite so very, very, very, very funny."

An interesting note at the bottom of the insert states "NOTE: Due to the physical condition and unique aspect ratio of the film elements used for restoration, the viewer will occasionally notice a difference in color, density and image orientation withing scenes."

Copyright notice on the back of the box contains the odd statement "available exclusively through Warner Home Video." Odd in that it says MGM/UA Home Video everywhere else, and the film was originally released by United Artists. This film was shot in Ultra Panavision and was promoted as the first film made in "one-projector" Cinerama.

While the Criterion Blu-ray restores 35 min to the film (15min longer than the Special Edition version), there are still three scenes that are exclusive to this version

  • A conversation between the two detectives that the coyotes would take care of the body.
  • Two scenes of the destruction of the gas station.
